1930's powerplant at the South West Corner of Mitchel Field.

Fire damaged building - It was a power plant. It was built in the 1930's. One of the steam engine 35 rebuilders indicated it contained a boiler. On 9/9/1999, the building was half way to being totally demolished. Bit by bit the past disappears. I will add some more pictures later. |

The above picture shows the steam piping. The building is only half demolished at this point. Writing on one of the walls indicates a "plant b" so there were probably two power plants. The original base heating plant (ca 1918) was near North Hall or roughly near Mitchel field's long gone post office building. |
