Historic Hempstead Plains - Nassau County, Long Island
1968 view of the area west of the Quad.
This view is of the area west of the quad in 1968. You can still see the W.W.II vintage wood frame buildings. The band shell made a great place to do your homework on nice days. The area is now a parking lot, that lot was used a staging area for the antique autos in the 100th anniversary parade. There is only one wood frame building left on the base. That building is in use as the A/V building. In the photo there are three wood frame "T" buildings, starting from the south (your left) they are T161 (mess hall), T160 and T159, the last two being infirmary barracks. In 1968 or early 1969, I had physical science in T159. These buildings were used as class rooms by Nassau Community College.VF 5/7/2000 |
